What does usage-based pricing mean?

We believe usage-based pricing is fairest for our customers. Usage based pricing is calculated using the concept of kilo-Core-hour or kCh.

This is a measurement of the number of worker CPU cores managed by Palette, multiplied by time. For instance, for a 4-node cluster which has 16 CPU cores each, one day of management will equate to 4 x 16 CPU cores x 24 hours = 1.54 kCh.

We use that to work out your bill per calendar month. If you’re using Palette with a cloud-managed Kubernetes service, like GKE, AKS or EKS, we recognize that you’re already paying for a degree of cluster infrastructure management through your cloud provider, so we price at a lower rate for these clusters.

What other contract options are available?

There’s no minimum spend for Palette. We offer discounted rates for increased usage, and additional discounts on annual and multi-year commitments up to 5 years, based on predicted usage. If your usage increases mid-term, we apply a ‘true forward’ methodology to correct the pricing for the following billing periods, with no retroactive clawbacks.

How are bare metal and edge servers priced?

We calculate the pricing of bare metal and edge devices based on how many devices are under management and actively participating in clusters. Pricing varies based on the ‘size’ of each server. For a small form-factor edge appliance, prices start at $250 per device per year. For a detailed quotation specific to your infrastructure, please get in touch.

What does self-hosted mean?

Every Palette contract includes access to patch updates and monthly feature releases, as well as access to our fantastic technical support team, who support not only Palette, but all of the pre-validated integrations in our repositories, to provide you with true ‘solution support’. We offer this as standard on an 8x5, next business day for P3 and P4 issues. Enhanced support up to 24x7 is available — talk to us for a customized quotation.

Spectro Cloud also offers professional services for architecture consulting, design, migration, deployment and integration on a project basis, either through our own team of experts, or through one of Spectro Cloud’s approved partners. Please contact us to discuss.

What services are included?

We offer Palette by default as a multi-tenant SaaS hosted platform.

This gives you instant and economical access to all our features without the burden of hosting. But we recognize that you may prefer a different deployment method. That’s why we also offer dedicated (single-tenant) SaaS, plus full self-hosted (you run Palette on your infrastructure) and even air-gapped self-hosted options.

An additional setup charge will apply for these options — your Spectro Cloud representative will be able to advise on how it works.

What SLAs cover the Palette platform?

For our Spectro Cloud-hosted options, we back the availability of the Palette platform with a 99.9% uptime service level agreement (SLA). This does not cover self-hosted instances of the Palette platform. For more details on our SLA, or if you have any specific needs, contact your Spectro Cloud representative.
